SE7EN

SE7EN Essay
SE7EN is a crime, mystery, thriller starring Morgan Freeman and Brad Pit. It‘s directed by David Fincher and written by Andrew Kevin Walker. Organised, seven days till retirement, Detective Lt. William Somerset (Freeman) is befriended by laid back new recruit Detective David Mills (Pit) to investigate series of related murder, based on the seven deadly sins. The sins are Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy and Pride. All the murders are committed by one ‘God obsessed’ serial killer.
In this essay I’m going to be focusing on the first three minutes of the film. I am going to be looking at the Mise-en-scene which includes the props, the locations, the colour and saturation's used and also the proximity which is where people are placed in the frame. The second thing I’m going to be looking at the different shot types used threw out the three minutes for example a CU (close-up) shot which is used to show the characters emotion. The last thing I’m going to be looking at is the sound use in the sequence and how it makes you feel.
